Tina Doane
"Truly Connected"

When I went looking for photographers and artwork for our June issue on Fathers, Grandfathers and Sons, I found Tina Doane.  What touched me about Tina’s work with fathers is that she gave them the type of softness and sensitivity that other photographers only seemed to give mothers.  I remember when my first son was born; my husband John was scared, and awed of this tiny little baby as much as I.  John held Jax so carefully and proudly.  It was such a peek into my husband’s soul to see something soften him so.  I loved my husband’s big barrel-chested, crazy pirate ways, and wondered how he would take to children.   John changed the day Jax was born.  He willingly put his pirate self on a boat and stayed on the shores holding his dear baby boy.  Tina seems somehow to see that in fathers as well   They say a mother is born on the day of her firstborn.  And so fathers as well are born.   Tina tells us this story through her camera lens.  What pictures she takes. What stories she tells….Thank you Tina. For more of her wonderful work, please visit her at www.tinadoane.com
